For the love of money: Man attacks friend with cutlass, jumps down storey-building and flees with stolen N800k
Onungwa Loveday, 31, has been arrested for attempting to kill his friend, Chiwendu Sunday, 32, in a hotel room on Osolo Way in Ajao Estate, Lagos, where they both lodged for the night. Loveday had offered to assist Sunday to
come to Lagos from Aba, Abia State to buy a bus.

The friends live together at 9, Leo Street, Jesus Healing Church, Aba, Abia State, and they’re also from the same village, Osisioma, where they attended the same primary and secondary school. Unknown to Sunday, while coming to Lagos, Loveday hid a cutlass inside his bag.
On getting to Lagos with the N800,000, they lodged in the same hotel room. But in the middle of the night, Loveday woke up, brought out the cutlass and started attacking Sunday. He succeeded in cutting off Sunday’s finger and inflicted severe injuries on him.

Sunday struggled with him and raised an alarm which attracted the attention of the security guards who force the door open and resued him. They’re both rushed to a hospital for treatment, from where Loveday jumped from the hospital storey-building and escaped with the money. He was later trailed to Aba, arrested and brought back to Lagos for prosecution.
He is facing a 3-count charge of inflicting grievous harm, cutting the victim with cutlass and stealing under the Criminal Code.
